Phyllis A. Dennery, MD, FAAP to deliver inaugural RI Bio Women in Science Mentoring Lecture

Phyllis A. Dennery, MD, FAAP will be the first speaker in the upcoming RI Bio Women in Science Mentoring lecture series on January 13th from 11 am to 12 pm.

Phyllis A. Dennery, MD, FAAP, is the Sylvia Kay Hassenfeld Professor and Chair of Pediatrics at the Warren Alpert Medical School; Pediatrician-in-Chief, Rhode Island Hospital; Medical Director, Hasbro Children’s Hospital; and Professor of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry at Brown.  Dr. Dennery’s laboratory research is focused on understanding mechanisms of neonatal lung injury and repair.  Her clinical interests are in neonatal jaundice, bronchopulmonary dysplasia and the long-term consequences of prematurity as well as on perinatal health disparities and the impact of race in Medicine.  She leads a Pediatric clinical trials network funded by the NIH.  Dr. Dennery was elected to the National Academy of Medicine, one of the top honors in medicine.
